Professionalism

As an NICEIC member, Westgate Electrical Services can carry out commercial, industrial and domestic work and are Part P registered, enabling us to issue electrical safety certificates for all works carried out in accordance with current building regulations. All members of these safety bodies are regularly inspected to ensure the highest standards of competency are met at all times.

  • If the electrics in your property are over 10 years old it is recommended that you have a Periodic Inspection carried out – this will ensure that the electrics are safe.
  • Remember – ELECTRICITY CAN KILL – in the case of an electrical fire, where safe to do so, switch off and unplug the appliance or switch off the power at the fuse box. Do not attempt to put out the fire with water, get out of the house quickly and call 999.
  • Check sockets, switches and appliances regularly for signs of deteriation or damage.
  • Always turn off electrical appliances when not in use.
  • Do not overload sockets as this significantly increases the risk of fire.
  • When replacing a fuse be sure to use the correct current rating (amps) for the appliance.
  • Electrical equipment and appliances deteriorate with use and over time, for this reason it’s advisable that you get them checked, inspected and tested periodically.
  • When having any electrical work carried out in your home ensure you use a qualified electrician – look for those registered with a government approved scheme such as NICEIC and make sure you go to the approved website as there are many cowboys out there who claim to be registered when they are not.
